Welcome & New Years Goals

Welcome to "Girl Named Fiddy!" I'm so excited to be starting this new blog and I hope you're as pumped about this as I am. I had a really bad day yesterday, and after working all morning, I thought I'd give myself a break and work on getting GNF up and rolling!

Most of the site is very similar to what I had on "Nonsensical Me." You'll see a brand new "About Me" section and an FAQ page (still under construction). I have a Links page, which includes links to my inactive blog, "Nonsensical Me," a blog I write with four other spectacular women, "Her/Story," and other blogs that I read religiously. I also have a contact page where you can see what I've been up to on Tumblr, Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter. You can also email me questions or offers if you would like me to review something.

As always, please feel free to leave comments and questions you have in the comment boxes at the bottom of every page or post. I love hearing feedback, and I love answering questions probably more than is healthy.

I've been wanting to change a few things in my life that I feel I haven't been reaching my potential with. Now, I now the whole, "OMGEE here's my New Year's Resolutions!" list isn't very spontaneous or original, but hey, it's what I've got for you. My list will also be important because these are some of the things I'm going to be writing about this year. :)

  • Do yoga every day
I want to make a real effort to get fit this year, and yoga makes me feel so good. I plan on doing more than this, but it's really hard for me (even without kids or a super busy schedule) to find time to take care of my body.

  • Eat healthier
Along with the first goal, I want to really try and make good decision for my body. I've been really wanting a blender so I can make smoothies, so maybe I'll get one for my birthday? I actually eat pretty healthy already, but I want to try to get more vegetables in my diet.
  • Use moderation whenever I can
If I've learned one thing in my 22 years on this earth, it's that moderation is key. Too much of a good thing is bad. Too much of a bad thing is bad. I want to remind myself that a little "bad" is okay, and to try to keep my mind, body, and soul in that happy medium place!
  • Love fearlessly
By this, I mean love J, my family, my friends, and (yes) even my "enemies." Life is so fragile. We need to let the people we love know. There's really not time to waste trying to protect ourselves from possible heartbreak. I want to remind myself not to hold back, and not to forget to tell the people I love that I love them.
  • Blog 3-4 times a week
In my perfect world, I would blog every day. My goal of 3-4 is a minimum, because I want to become more structured and consistent so that my readers generally know when I'll be posting next. It will also push me to explore the areas I want to focus on for Girl Named Fiddy!
  • Gossip less
I'm sure people gossip a lot more than I do, but I've done my fair share of it this last year. I hate it. I feel horrible after I do it, like I need to wash my hands. I want to remember this year that other people's lives, no matter how much of a train wreck they are, are not my business. I also want to remember to be kind.
  • Forgive more
I'm still mad at people from 5th grade... and I kind of need to get over it. I'm not the kind of person who holds a grudge over little things, but I do seem to have a problem with forgiving people for wronging me or my friends. This doesn't mean I have to become best friends with them, but it is hurtful for my heart to keep holding onto pain.
  • Get into law school
This is kind of huge one. I start applying pretty much immediately, which means I'll be getting accepted or rejected in a month or so... AHHH. My goal here is pretty self-explanatory. Ideally, I'll get into a school in Boston, but we'll see. I'll be putting out good vibes into the world.
  • Get rid of 200 things
Honest, this was blatently stolen borrowed inspired by Kelsey Williams of "Words of Williams" today. One of her 2013 intentions was to recycle, donate, throw away, or generally get rid of 200 things. I loved this for many reasons; first of all, I don't need half of what I have. Secondly, living in a small apartment means there's lots of clutter. If I can get rid of it (especially while helping people), that would be ideal. SUCH a good idea Kelsey!

What are your goals for this new year? Do you not like making "resolutions?" How do you like my new blog? Are you going to keep reading my blog forever and EVER AND EVER?

Love you all,
M

  1. Those all sound achievable! I was going to try the throwing away of things, too, after seeing it on Words Of Williams! It's a year to clean house!

    1. Thanks so much! I really tried to choose goals that were do-able and that weren't just about my body or losing weight; every new year it seems like that's all anyone focuses on. Wasn't the 200-thing a GREAT idea?! I love reading Words of Williams. :)
